UK Travel Day 6 - Still Wet July 28, 2007
Our spirits were as damp as our clothes by this point (and the tent, and the car, and every fucking camp site we cared to visit…), and being forced to rule out surfing in the West Country due to the adverse weather was getting us down too, as that was to be the finale of our 10-day excursion. It was still raining on the Monday so we decided just to have another day travelling with no other real purpose.

At least the motorways were no longer flooded, so we travelled to Bath, which was about the closest we could find a camp site to Longleat. Newton Mill camp site was the best we stayed in, with great showers and these urinals that have a special coating on them so your piss doesn’t have to be washed away, they just get cleaned once a day to conserve water. They sound a bit funky but they didn’t smell, so I guess it works.
The city of Bath itself is very beautiful, and had we known more about it before our spur-of-the-moment visit, we’d have visited the Roman Spa built around the only naturally occurring hot springs in the UK. Instead, we got some cans and went back to the tent.
We finished drying the previous day’s laundry, played cards in the tent and had a few cans before getting an early night. We knelt in the name of mighty Apollo, god of the sun, to give us a nice day for going to the Zoo.
