EU Travel Day 18 - The King of the Underground August 28, 2007

by Martyn

Saturday morning was spent recovering from Friday night. I was woken in one of the best ways imaginable. With a fried egg and pineapple sandwich. If ever there was a perfect moment for me to discover this slightly odd combination, this was it.

After we regrouped we headed into Delft for a look around. Suprise suprise Delft has a big church. Those pesky Christians are everywhere! There was a bit of live Jazz in the central square and a market nearby but we didn’t hang around long. Instead we headed for a mini music festival a little further out. We quickly decided that wasn’t our cup of tea either and headed back for food and a guitar, which Dave abused for the rest of the day.

We’d been told by Wendy the night before that on Saturdays ‘Triangle’ was a rock club, so we spent the rest of the day lazing around and waiting. We didn’t want to be unfashionably early so we held back and didn’t head out until midnight!

‘The Underground’ was similar to ‘The Crown’ in Middlesbrough, playing a general mix of Rock etc. But one thing ‘The Crown’ doesn’t have, and one thing it needs, is ‘One Dance Move Guy’. That’s right. He was out again and busting that one dance move like there was no tomorrow! He quickly earned the title of ‘King of the Underground’ which Dave interrupted his dancing to tell him.

After another brilliant night of cheap beers and decent music we headed home. Taking in yet more local fast food, which we were told by Wendy basically contains cow’s arseholes! yummy!

  1. ….I thought you headed home by yourself ;)…

and I think you both don’t need this ‘one dance move guy’ in England :) you can take him if you like :) :) :) it makes us happy here, then there is more space for us to dance :) I’ll try to make a little movie from his dance move if you like. Then you can show this guy at home.

and yes, the fast food ‘frikandel en kroket’ are lovely :) that is something you miss all in England. That’s something you have to introduce there in stead of the ‘king of the underground’ ;)

well have a lot of fun!

    kisses wendy

  2. This is true, but my mum might read this so I have to sound like Im being a good boy! ;)

If you can convince our friend Matijs to move to England then I have a loving home waiting for him… haha x

  3. I happen to know that your mum IS reading this, and is loving it! :-)

So why did Martyn head home by himself? I can only think of one possible reason, and if I’m right, Dave, you should be ashamed of yourself! Making him walk home alone just ‘cos he’s Jewish, it’s just not on!

PS: I just lost the game.

  4. mmm… I’m sorry… it was my fault…. Dave is such a good and brave guy, he’s just like a real gentleman.. ;) He would never do things like that..

and you only have a loving home waiting for mathijs… ? ;) and then I said before you are such a gentleman…
    well, i’m just kidding :)

enjoy the rest of your trip!

    kisses from me!
