EU Travel Day 11 - Jimmy Eat World August 22, 2007

by Martyn

We dragged ourselves out of bed on Saturday morning feeling a little bit hungover, and aching a lot. The night before had seen us dancing our drunk arses off to Pendulum, which was brilliant!

Saturday was an eagerly anticipated day for me in particular because Jimmy Eat World were playing later, as well as Turbonegro. With this in mind my hangover quickly passed and I set off on a wander around the festival with Dave still sleeping his sorrows away.

I caught a brilliant act on the main stage. It was a full orchestra playing computer game theme tunes. It was brilliant. I headed back to the tent after, to wake up Dave from a Whisky induced coma.

Once we both got up I made us some tea. Somehow it managed to be the worst cup of tea either us had ever tasted. Somewhere between putting the teabag and boiling water in a cup and stirring, I had gone horribly wrong. The result was a flavour not dissimilar to arseholes.

We decided not to waste anytime and head into the festival straight away and check out any bands who were playing and about we checked out a few bands.

Then for the main events, the bands I had been looking forward to seeing the most. First up was Turbonegro. I managed to get right at the front, after waiting around 2 hours and they were fantastic. Definately one of the highlights of the whole festival for me.

But then came Jimmy Eat World. I loved it, they were my favourite band of the weekend by a long way. Other bands, like Tool and Turbonegro put on a better all round show, but Jimmy Eat World were definite crowd pleasers. Everyone was jumping and singing along. I’ve also never seen so many people crowdsurf to one band! Everyone was at it!

Saturday was probably our earliest night, we got back to the tent around 1:00am and sat up talking before drifting into a achey slumber.
